Save Your Datasheet To Bring To Next Visit
The first visit will be the longest because you need to collect all new information. However, since you will need to re-measure space on every visit, we encourage you to make a copy of your previous visit's datasheet and treat it as a "working" datasheet that you can use to verify that there were no changes when compared to the previous visit and/or to make adjustments in places where there are changes. Remember, small changes can and do add up, so it's important that you are capturing that data.
For example, if the display has not changed, then the linear inches are the same. If products were added, then add this change to your last round's linear inches. If products were taken away, then subtract this change from your last round's linear inches.
Stockouts will likely change month-to-month so it is advisable to clear these columns in your data sheet and only leave your linear inches.
As mentioned previously, one way to make your datasheet friendlier for your in-store visit, is to keep a "working" datasheet for store visits separate from your "master" datasheet with all brands listed.
Each time you do a visit, take your working datasheet. If the linear inches for a brand have not changed, just delete those cells from the datasheet. You only need to fill in stockouts.
Then, after your visit you'll have a file filled out with only things that need to be added/changed to your master datasheet. The more streamlined your datasheet is during your visit, the faster you'll move!
