Kate Spade Collections
Kate Spade has a variety of products and handbag collections, and the data collection can initially feel a bit overwhelming. The collections change seasonally and the research team will let you know when new collections have been added.
- The biggest thing to remember is you do not need to memorize the collection names; just become familiar with the collections you may see in the stores! Be sure to view your datasheets for the most up-to-date collections we are tracking.
- While in the store, there are clues on the price tags that help identify the collections
- Collections are generally displayed together because visually, they belong together. Once you figure out which collection is on a particular display, it's highly likely the other handbags on that display belong to the same collection.
- If you are having trouble figuring out the collection, you can always ask a sales associate what collection the bag belongs to or look it up on the website while you are in the store
- We only collect data on collections that have 5+ styles, so you will likely encounter a collection that is not on the datasheet. For those collections, you'll categorize them as All Other Leather (Small and Large) or All Other Materials (Small and Large).
- Outlets: Quite often, the Outlets will not have named collections, so all of the data you collect will be for All Other Leather (Small and Large) and All Other Canvas (Small and Large)
Prior to your visit, spend a little time on the Kate Spade website and familiarize yourself with the collection. We may suggest a quick check before each store visit to see what may have changed from your prior visit.
The current Spring 2023 Collections include:
- All Day (All Day Tote)
- Classic Nylon
- Evelyn
- Gramercy
- Hudson
- Katy
- Knott
- Morgan
- Sam
- Spade Flower (Spade Flower Jacquard)
- All Other - Essentially, these collections are the catch-all for bags that do not fall into other collections. Perhaps the collection is small or you are seeing a one-off set of inventory for a sale. In those instances, please categorize by material and size. The collection should always take priority and only be considered an All Other if it doesn't belong to a specific collection.
- All Other Leather Small (leather bags, including crossbodies, that will fit a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Leather Large (leather bags that will hold more than a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Canvas Small (canvas bags, including crossbodies, that will fit a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Canvas Large (canvas bags that will hold more than a wallet + keys + phone)
Women's Shoes At both Retail and Outlet stores, you will also collect data on all Women's Shoes, we will discuss in more detail this category in the next steps.
NOTE: For this entire project, you can completely ignore wallets and small wristlets (anything that can't fit a wallet, phone, and keys easily) and bags too large to be considered a handbag, such as diaper bags and luggage.
