Boots Non-Clearance Promotions
Boots promotion data gathering will be like apparel non-clearance promotions detailed out previously. There are a couple of distinct differences to facilitate data collection specifically for the boot department as there can be many boot styles on promotion.
The most common promotion types will be shoes marked down to a new price or a percent discount. We will record the following:
- Promotion Type: Sale items at a New Price or Percent Discount
- Item Category
- Linear Inches (instead of a style count like we do in Apparel we will collect linear inches of all promotional shoes)
- *MODE Original Price seen
- *MODE New Price seen (if applicable)
- *MODE Percent Discount (if applicable)
*Since we may find many boot styles on promotion, we'd like to consolidate these as much as possible to make the data collection easier. If the boots all have an original price within $10 of each other we can fill out just one line of percent discount or new price promotion instead of filling out multiple promo details for every single style seen.
Things to remember:
Please be certain to only collect promotional activity for boots. It is important to read the promotional signage thoroughly to ensure the promotion pertains to the appropriate products, and the sign is not simply in the wrong place.
You will record all relevant items that are on promotion. Sometimes the stores will have more than one promotion at the same time, so if you see these, please collect data accordingly.
Use any promotional tags as your guide; you can often gather a lot of data regarding the promotion from in-store signage. If there are any details that you are unsure of from the signs, please be sure ask the sales associates to clarify to ensure the accuracy of your information.
Example
Shoe promotions are very easy to see! Promotions will be on red tags with an original and new price easily visible. For this promotion tag, we'd take down the original price of ~$149.99, the new price of $119.99, and measure linear inches of the inventory on promotion.
