Promotions at Ollie's

You will also be capturing data regarding any promotional activity occurring within the designated product categories we are collecting on. This part is super easy, if you see a promotion for any of the categories, we just need to know which category and the type of promotion.
Please be certain to only collect promotional activity in the specific product categories we are collecting data on. It is important to read the promotional signage thoroughly to ensure the promotion pertains to the categories we are collecting data for and the sign is not simply in the wrong place.
You will record all relevant category items that are on promotion. It is possible that the stores may have more than one different type of promotion occurring at the same time within the same product category.
Please keep your data sheet handy for promotions as you will be recording the following information into your datasheet:
- The category on promotion
-
The type(s) of promotion:
- Markdowns (a $ off or a % off discount)
- Product Bundles (getting multiple items at a lower price)
- Buy-one-get-one (BOGO at a $ or % off)
- Category Wide Markdown
You should be able to gather the data you need for these promotions directly from the promotional signs.
What is Not a Promotion
Stores will often put out signs and shelf stickers simply to draw attention to a brand or a product. These are NOT promotions, so please be sure to read any signs or stickers carefully to make sure they are indeed promotional and not just "hey, look at this!" signage.
Here some examples of signage meant to draw attention and show a price comparison. This signage does NOT indicate a promotion but rather shows Ollie's bargain price vs. their price.
