Welcome to the Burlington Athletic Project!

For this project, you will be collecting data on Athletic Apparel and Shoes at your Burlington location. This training will provide you with the tools you need to successfully complete your store visit.  

While many of these stores have been around for years, the current economic environment has brought in a surge of new customers looking for designer swag at prices they can afford.

Where does the merchandise come from?

Off-Price retailers are in constant negotiation with various department stores, designers, and manufacturers to get brand-name merchandise at lower prices.

Off-Price retailers are a tool for companies who need to hide their "sins of the past"--either because they had too much inventory or because they made stuff that nobody wanted to buy. Selling to Off-Price retailers is one way to move these items out of the store inconspicuously.

Oftentimes people (in the investment community in particular) are not paying attention to these stores and do not see these trends. These trends are important because they can give us a picture of the health of the respective brands.
