Clearance Section: Min/Max/Mode Starting Prices
For all Clearance merchandise, you will collect the MIN/MAX/MODE original starting price. This is the price printed on the tag and not the marked-down / red tag price.
H&M discounts Clearance by $ off and the new price will either be on a sign above the rack or on the price tag.
To best manage the pricing data, we have created price buckets to lump the products into. This will help you avoid recording every variation on the Original/New Price.
Please note that the price bucket is the current selling price (the walk-out-the-door price) and what you are going to look for / record is the original price.
The Min/Max/Mode Starting Price will be higher than the pricing bucket because the starting price is *before* any discounts. As you sort through the items on the rack, you will lump them into a pricing bucket.
For Example:
- There is a rack of Athletic inventory on Clearance for $30
- The original prices for the inventory were $45, $50, and $65
- The Athletic inventory would be lumped into the $30-39.99 pricing bucket (remember the bucket is the current price)
- The MIN starting price would be $45 and the MAX starting price would be $65
- Then you would figure out the MODE based on the most frequent price seen
- If all of the Athletic inventory was discounted to $30, the % of Category on Clearance would be 100%
Here is an example of what the survey will look like:
