Coach Collections
Now that we have discussed the metrics that we will be collecting, let's take a closer look at the collections. While the number of collections may seem overwhelming, there are a few key things to keep in mind:
- Collections are generally displayed together because visually, they belong together. Once you figure out which collection is on a particular display, it's highly likely the other handbags on that display belong to the same collection.
- You can find the collection name on the price tag
- If you are having trouble figuring out the collection, you can always ask a sales associate what collection the bag belongs to
- We only collect data on collections that have 5+ styles, so you will likely encounter a collection that is not on the datasheet. For those collections, you'll categorize as All Other Leather (Small and Large) or All Other Canvas (Small and Large).
- Outlets: Quite often, the Outlets will not have named collections, so all of the data you collect will be for All Other Leather (Small and Large) and All Other Canvas (Small and Large)
Prior to your visit, spend a little time on the Coach website and familiarize yourself with the collection. We may suggest a quick check before each store visit to see what may have changed from your prior visit.
Because you will be collecting data by collection, being familiar with the product line will make the visits go more smoothly.
Some collections change seasonally, so be sure to keep an eye out for an email from the research team with details about new collections when they launch.
The current Spring 2023 Collections include:
- Charter Collection
- Field Tote Collection
- Hayden Collection
- Kitt Collection
- Relay Collection
- Revel Collection
- Rouge Collection
- Riya Collection
- Ruby Collection
- Sammy Collection
- Studio Collection
- Swinger Collection
- Tabby Collection
- Willow Collection
- Disney Collection (Any handbag that has Disney should be recorded as Disney even if it belongs to another collection as well. Essentially, Disney trumps any other collection.)
All Other - Essentially, these categories are the catch all for bags that do not fall into other collections. Perhaps the collection is small or you are seeing a one-off set of inventory for a sale. In those instances, please categorize by material and size. The collection should always take priority and only be considered an All Other if it doesn't belong to a specific collection.
- All Other Leather Small (leather bags, including crossbodies, that will fit a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Leather Large (leather bags that will hold more than a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Canvas Small (canvas bags, including crossbodies, that will fit a wallet + keys + phone)
- All Other Canvas Large (canvas bags that will hold more than a wallet + keys + phone)
Women's Shoes At both Retail and Outlet stores, you will also collect data on all Women's Shoes, we will discuss in more detail this category in the next steps.
NOTE: For this entire project, you can completely ignore wallets and small wristlets (anything that can't fit a wallet, phone, and keys easily) and bags too large to be considered a handbag, such as diaper bags and luggage.
