Promotions
Promotion details are vital to our work for our clients. On some visits there will be very little promotion and on other visits, especially around holidays, you'll likely encounter a decent amount of promotion. It is important to collect all promotional activity during each visit.
Use the promotion signs to guide you and note, that often you will have to pull the price tag out of the Handbags to see the sale price (usually they just handwrite the new price in). If there are any details that you are unsure of, please casually ask the sales associates to ensure the accuracy of your information.
Percentage of Styles on Promotion
For every Collection or Category with product on promotion, you will calculate the % of Styles on Promotion. This is very easy because you will have the style counts from all of the collections and accessory categories. This is just quick math!
% of Styles on Promotion
- Take the total styles from the Collection
- Divide by the number of styles from the Collection on promotion
- Example:
- You record 49 styles of Saffiano handbags
- You record 14 styles of Saffinao handbags on promotion
- 14/49 = 0.2857, rounded up to 29% of styles on promotion
Promotions
Kors offers pretty standard promotions, you will most likely encounter individual sales items, but on occasion, you will also see Collection/Categorywide sales and Storewide sales.
Remember, for Clearance / Sale items, you will likely have to pull the tag out of the inside of the handbag to see the % off or the new price.
Clearance / Sale Items at a Percent Discount
These are items at a specific percentage of the original price. For example, if all items on a table were 10% off.
Data to collect:

Category wide % or $ off
This promotion type is only used when all of the inventory from a Collection or Category is subject to the SAME discount rate. For example, if all Saffiano bags were marked down 25% or all Shoes were 15% off. Most often, category-wide sales are in the form of a % off.
Data to collect:
- Collection name
- Minimum amount to spend to be eligible for the promotion (usually the MIN price for the category)
- New price or % off
Storewide % or $ off
This promotion type is only used when all Michael Kors merchandise is subject to the same discount rate. For example, the entire salesfloor is 20% off. Storewide sales occur more at Outlets than Retail stores but can be seen at Retail doors on occasion. Most often, storewide sales are in the form of a % off.
Data to collect:
- Minimum amount to spend to be eligible for the promotion (usually the MIN price for the category)
