Stockout Examples
The items we are collecting data on come in a lot of different colors. Thus, the most common type of stockout you will see is a completely sold through color.
Example 1: Say you encounter the display below:

This display is for lipgloss, so it falls under the category 'Face - All Other Makeup.' Note that there are 3 empty slots because 3 colors have completely sold out. You would record that there were 3 stockouts for this brand in the category 'Face - All Other Makeup.'
You don't need to count a stockout for every item that would have fit in that slot, but just one stockout for each completely empty slot.
Note: We don't care about stock levels. We only care about whether or not there is or is not stock. You'll notice that 2 of the lip glosses above only have 1 item left, but we did not categorize these lip glosses as stockouts.
Example 2: Say you encounter the display below:
Notice that the items above are for display only. They are not readily available to purchase because they cannot be rung up at the register. Thus, although there are 2 display items missing, you would record that there were 0 stockouts.
