Clearance
In addition to promotions that you will find scattered throughout the department, you will likely encounter a Clearance section.
This merchandise is typically separated from full-priced merchandise and it is often found on a separate rack(s), shelves, or sections of the store clearly marked as Clearance. The store's goal is to move this merchandise out, so they want it to be very visible. Clearance signs/tags are often marked in bold colors like RED or YELLOW to attract the customer's attention.
In many of our projects, you may find that Clearance data is usually collected in Apparel and Shoes sections. We collect Clearance data a little differently from other Non-Clearance promotions, because sections can hold a lot of product and we want to keep you from doing more work than necessary.
The metrics collected in the Clearance Section for our projects are listed below; please click on each link for further information about each Clearance metric. Should there be variances in the data collection, they will be discussed in further detail in each project specification.
1) Linear Feet or Linear Inches by Brand/Category
2) Min / Max / Mode Starting Prices by New Price or % Discount bucket
3) Clearance Section: % of Category's Inventory on each Promotion Type
