What We Are Counting
You will categorize each of the shoppers exiting as either non-buyers or buyers. Then you will categorize each buyer by purchase size.
Here's how we determine that:
- Non-buyers: people who exited the store without a purchase from that store
- Small buyers: The number of shoppers that exit the store with 1 bag from that specific store
- Medium buyers: The number of shoppers that exit the store with 2-3 bags from that specific store
- Large buyers: Large Shoppers may include a few different options:
- Shoppers that exit with one Large bag
- Shoppers that exist with multiple (3+) small bags
- Shoppers that exit with multiple bags of any size
Please note: Only count someone as a buyer if they are carrying bags from that specific store. For example, if you collect data at H&M, buyer counts should only be shoppers exiting with H&M bags/purchases.
“SMALL” buyers are
Shoppers exiting a store with:
- 1 bag (think of a bag for accessories, maybe a one shirt, smaller than a grocery bag)
- 1 item in hand (smaller than a shoebox)
“MEDIUM” buyers are
Shoppers exiting a store with:
- One medium bag (think grocery bag size)
- One bag in both hands
- One box / item carried by hand (think shoe box or bigger)
“LARGE” buyers are
Shoppers exiting a store with:
- Multiple bags in both hands
- Large purchases that require both hands to carry
- Shopping cart
- Garment bag
