Helpful Tips!
Feel free to use the tips below which have proven to help others with this project:
Take Pictures (Discreetly):
- Don't forget how helpful it can be to photograph displays for your records!
- If you want to check your work later, it can be helpful to take a photo of what you're counting.
- Just be sure that you're super clear on what the linear inch width is of the display you're looking at, because that's the one thing you can't figure out from a photo.
Record Voice Memos (Discreetly):
- It may help to use voice memos to account for different things on your data sheet. After the visit, you can refer to these memos to fill in your data sheet.
- Side note: Feel free to record to refer to brands and products in your first language, and then translate to English when entering the data sheet.
Develop a "routine" when walking through the store:
- This will help you be more efficient when collecting data! Of course, take a short break to refresh during your visit, as needed.
Compare to Past Visits:
- Once you get the hang of it, it may help to refer to your past visits and note changes in measurements and counts. E.g. The measurements of displays typically don't change much across visits.
