Promotions
Egg promotions are not uncommon and when you encounter them, we will ask you to record the full price and the effective (or promotional) price. If the item is not on promotion, you will just record the full price. You will be able to get all of the data you need from the in-store signage.
*You will also want to watch out for little individual stickers on the actual products themselves. Usually, there is a sign, but occasionally, this will be the only indicator of the promotion.
The following are the most common types of promotion you will see in store are a new price.
Percent off / New price sales items
For item(s) at a new price, we need to collect data on the Full Price (original price) and the Effective price (the price calculated after the promotion is applied). If there were eggs with a full price of $5.49 and on sale for $4.99, you'd enter both prices into your survey like this:
What is NOT a promotion:
You may find signage designed to catch the eye of a customer, but are not actually on sale.
For example, Walmart does a lot of "Rollback" pricing, these lower prices should not be considered a promotional. If you see a sign with the signature Rollback branding, please collect the price as a Full Price and not as an Effective Price.
