Apparel Clearance
In addition to promotions that you will find scattered throughout the department, you will likely encounter a Clearance Section. This merchandise is typically separated from full-priced merchandise and it is often found on a separate rack(s) clearly marked as Clearance.
Remember, the merchandise on Clearance will NOT factor into your estimation for the amount of inventory on/off promotion for each category.
There will be Clearance at every store, so it is important to prepare to strategically collect the appropriate metrics. Since the Clearance section can be messy at these stores, we will collect clearance data by Apparel Category (and will not be broken out by brand):
- Bottoms
- Tops
- Sweatshirts/Jackets
- Notions
Collecting details about the Clearance section will be a bit different than Non-Clearance promotions. To review basic data points on how to collect Clearance data, please click here.
The metrics we will be collecting for items in the Clearance Section are listed below, click each link for further detail:
1) Min/Max/Mode Starting Prices by New Price or Percent Discount
2) % of Category's Inventory on each Promotion Type
3) Linear Inches (*for this project we will be collecting inches vs. feet)
